Brain and stress study in depressed teens with control feelings

Major Depressive Disorder

Who can take part

  • Be a girl age 14–18.
  • Be able to read/speak English well, and agree to participate with parent/guardian if you’re under 18.
  • Be right-handed and have a personal cell phone to do brief daily check-ins.
  • For the brain scan, be in the follicular phase of your menstrual cycle.
  • If you have depression: you must meet criteria for major depressive disorder and not be taking psychiatric medicines recently.
  • If you’re a healthy comparison group: you must have no current/past mental health or substance/alcohol diagnoses and no first-degree relatives with depression, bipolar disorder, or psychosis.
