This study tests whether maraviroc (or a placebo) given soon after an ischemic stroke can improve how well people recover with inpatient rehabilitation. It may help some stroke survivors regain arm and/or leg function faster with the usual rehab therapies.

Who can take part
- You had an ischemic stroke affecting the front part of the brain (anterior circulation), and it’s your first main stroke event for this study
- You are age 18 or older
- You start the study medicine at least 5 days after your stroke and no later than 8 weeks after it
- You need inpatient rehabilitation because of weakness on one side (hemiparesis)
- You can get help to do daily rehab practice and to travel for therapy if needed
- You have enough understanding to consent and follow therapy instructions (language/retention ability)
