This trial studies how a special MRI can help doctors tell whether brain lesions after Gamma Knife treatment are growing tumors or radiation injury. It may help you avoid unnecessary treatment if the findings suggest radionecrosis instead of progression.

Who can take part

  • You have confirmed cancer that has spread to the brain
  • You had Gamma Knife treatment within the last 4 months
  • Your recent scans suggest worsening that could be tumor growth or radiation injury (at least 25% change in size)
  • The MRI shows an enhanced brain lesion that is at least 1 centimeter
  • You can have MRI scans (no metal/other MRI issues and you’re not allergic to the MRI contrast dye)
  • You can give consent and you’re able to complete follow-up scans; you are not in another study
