- You are 18 to 55 years old
- If you are not obese: your BMI must be under 30 and you still have high blood pressure
- If you are obese: your BMI must be 30 or higher and you have high blood pressure
- Your high blood pressure must be confirmed by a 24-hour ambulatory (wearable) blood pressure monitor
- You do not have major heart or blood-vessel disease other than high blood pressure
- You do not have kidney disease, diabetes, or a history of smoking
