Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • Your epilepsy has not improved after trying two different anti-seizure medicines you could tolerate, taken the right way
  • Your doctor is considering VNS (vagus nerve stimulation) as a treatment option for you
  • You can do a 20-minute EEG recording using the study’s steps (light flashes, breathing/hyperventilation, and opening/closing eyes)
  • You (or a family member/caregiver) can keep accurate seizure diaries for at least the 3 months before VNS, or you can reliably describe your seizure frequency during that time
  • You can attend the regular study visits needed for VNS setting changes and study follow-up
