Who can take part

  • You have had your first acute STEMI heart attack, diagnosed by heart ECG findings
  • Your symptoms started more than 30 minutes ago but less than 12 hours before the artery-opening procedure
  • Your CRP blood test is high (at least 7 mg/L) between 6 and 16 hours after the artery-opening procedure
  • You are eligible for the primary PCI procedure (the standard emergency artery-opening treatment)
  • You can have a heart MRI scan (CMR) and you are not in severe shock or needing major resuscitation
  • You are 18 or older and can give written consent (not pregnant)
