Test a breathing study plan for kids with sleep apnea after surgery

Who can take part

  • Be between 3 and 18 years old (some parts focus on ages 5–18).
  • Still have moderate to severe sleep apnea even after adenotonsillectomy (breathing pauses per hour must be over 5).
  • Have signs or suspicion of a blockage in the upper airway (for example, enlarged tissue, a small jaw, or a large tongue relative to the airway).
  • Have already tried CPAP without enough success, or your family chooses surgery without a CPAP trial.
  • Need surgery for sleep apnea based on the surgeon’s assessment.
  • Not have metal braces/metal rods, and be able to safely receive any required sedative.
