Who can take part
- You must be 18 or older.
- Your health status should be good enough (ECOG 0–2 or KPS 70+).
- Your diagnosis must be rectal adenocarcinoma confirmed by biopsy, and the tumor must be low enough to be examined by a colorectal surgeon.
- You must have recent CT scans of the abdomen and chest showing no spread to distant organs.
- You need an MRI of the rectum done with specific imaging settings, and the MRI should match criteria for lower tumor location (not too high), mrT2–mrT3, and mrN0–1 (no more than 3 lymph nodes by imaging).
- You must not be pregnant, not currently on other cancer treatments, and you must not have had prior radiation to the pelvis.
