Who can take part
- Be age 18 or older and agree in writing to join the study
- Have had an ischemic stroke or a TIA, with brain imaging that rules out bleeding in the brain
- For stroke: it should not be a small “lacunar” type stroke, and tests should not show major artery narrowing or a clear heart clot source
- You must have an ECG, an echocardiogram (heart ultrasound through the chest or possibly via the esophagus), and at least 24 hours of rhythm monitoring
- No history of atrial fibrillation (AF) and no AF found on your ECG or during screening heart monitoring
