Who can take part
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You had an ischemic stroke (a blood clot in the brain) 2 to 7 days ago, and if you had a procedure to remove the clot, you've been stable for 24 hours.
- Your stroke severity is moderate, as measured by a standard scale (score 8–18).
- Your doctor thinks you can participate in active rehabilitation (like physical therapy).
- You are not allergic to certain herbs or foods (like beans, carrots, or celery).
- You are not taking warfarin, and if you are a woman, you are not pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the study.
