Who can take part

  • Be between 3 and 30 years old
  • Be newly diagnosed (not a previously treated tumor)
  • Have a tumor only on one side of the basal ganglia or thalamus
  • No signs of other brain/spinal tumors on scans
  • A test of the fluid around the brain (CSF cytology) must be negative for tumor cells
