- Your diabetes blood test (HbA1c) is between 8% and 12%
- Your eye screening shows either no retinopathy or early microaneurysms

- You have not had anti-VEGF or steroid eye treatments in the past 12 months
- You do not have certain eye problems like severe cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, or retinitis pigmentosa
