Who can take part

  • You are a Veteran age 18 to 70
  • Your spinal cord injury has been present for at least 1 year and is in the neck (at C8 or higher)
  • You have some remaining feeling in the C6, C7, and C8 areas (not complete loss of sensation)
  • You can visibly make a power grip with one hand and score at least 2 on a hand grasp test
  • You do not have uncontrolled major health problems (like serious lung, heart, or bone/joint problems) that limit exercise
  • You should not have a pacemaker or metal hardware in the skull, and you should not be pregnant
