It may help by reducing traction on the spinal cord to improve bladder/bowel, skin, or nerve-related symptoms.

Who can take part
- You are between 2 and 79 years old.
- Your symptoms have not improved with symptom medicine for at least 1 year.
- Tests confirm occult tethered cord syndrome (it must score at least 30 on the trial’s grading scale).
- You do not have a clear tethered cord on imaging (for example, a low-lying conus, thickened filum, or fat/lipoma in the filum).
- You have not had certain prior back/spinal dysraphism surgeries, and you do not have specific spinal birth-related cysts (meningocele manqué or myelomeningocele).
- No history of central nervous system infection or an autoimmune condition affecting the brain/spinal cord.
