- You are scheduled for a carotid endarterectomy surgery
- You can sign informed consent to join the study
- Your memory and thinking score is not severely impaired (MMSE 18 or higher)
- You should not be taking psychotropic medicines (medicines that affect mood/brain function)
- You have no history of brain surgery in the past
- You can reliably hear/see and communicate in the study language
