This study tests whether sitagliptin can delay or prevent type 1 diabetes in people who have a close family member with type 1 diabetes and early “at-risk” blood test results. Who can take part
- Age 10 to 45 years
- You (or a parent/guardian if under 18) can sign informed consent
- You have a close relative with type 1 diabetes, and the relative fits specific age ranges
- Blood tests show at least two diabetes-related autoantibodies, plus abnormal glucose on an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT)
- You agree not to join other treatment/vaccine trials during this study
- For people who could become pregnant: negative pregnancy test and no attempts at pregnancy for at least 1 year
