Who can take part

  • You must be age 18 or older
  • The heart arrest episode must happen while EMS is treating you and be classified as PEA (unconscious, no neck pulse, and heart rhythm is not VT/VF)
  • Your arrest must not be due to a physical injury (no traumatic cardiac arrest)
  • Your cardiac arrest must not have been untreated for more than 30 minutes
  • You must not be pregnant
  • You must not have an LVAD heart pump, and you must not be in a situation where resuscitation is clearly not wanted (durable DNR given to EMS)
