Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 75 years old.
  • Your cardiac arrest was witnessed (someone saw it happen) either in or out of the hospital.
  • You did not get your heartbeat back after 15 minutes of standard CPR, or it could not stay stable, and you needed emergency ECMO.
  • You started CPR within 10 minutes of your cardiac arrest.
  • The cause of your cardiac arrest is something doctors expect could be fixed (like a heart attack, a heart rhythm problem, a blood clot in the lungs, or medicine poisoning).
  • You do not have a major injury, active bleeding, pregnancy, or diseases that make ECMO risky.
