Early testing after stroke to predict recovery outcomes

Who can take part

  • You’re 18 years or older
  • You had a stroke affecting only one side (ischemic stroke). Rarely, both sides can be affected if the “other” side has no symptoms
  • Within 48 to 96 hours of stroke onset, your arm/hand strength on the affected side is not near-normal (measured by a SAFE score of 8 or less out of 10)
  • You can start the study within the early time window (by consenting and then beginning TMS or an MRI scan), and you must attend an in-person Day 90 visit
  • You speak English or Spanish and can follow study instructions for the full study period
