This Phase 3 trial tests a new medicine (contezolid acefosamil, and contezolid) to treat moderate or severe diabetic foot infections. It compares the new treatment to linezolid to see which works better and is safer for adults.

Who can take part

  • You have diabetes (type 1 or type 2).
  • You have a diabetic foot infection that started at or below the ankle and does not go above the knee.
  • Your infection is considered moderate or severe (called levels 3 or 4 by an infection guideline).
  • Your symptoms started suddenly or got worse within the last 14 days.
  • You are not pregnant and not breastfeeding.
  • You have not taken contezolid or contezolid acefosamil before, and you should be able to follow the study visits and medicine schedule.
  • The infection should not involve bone infection (osteomyelitis) and should not be a very dangerous tissue infection like gangrene or necrotizing fasciitis, and blood flow to the foot should not be so poor that revascularization is needed during the study.
