Who can take part
- Your child is 3 years old or younger
- Your child is scheduled for congenital heart surgery using a heart-lung machine (CPB)
- Your child does NOT have long-term kidney disease (low kidney filtering for over 3 months)
- Your child has NOT had bleeding in the brain, stroke, or seizures before surgery
- Your child’s pre-surgery brain ultrasound is normal
- Your child is not already on life support outside the body (ECMO or similar)
