3D heart scan study during LVAD implantation

Who can take part

  • You are scheduled to get an LVAD placed on the left side during surgery.
  • Your LVAD device is one of these: HeartMate III, HeartWare HVAD, or Levitronix CentriMag.
  • Doctors must have key blood-pressure data needed to calculate PAPi or you may not qualify.
  • You must have enough clear 3D heart images during the scan (image quality matters).
  • There should be no major heart valve repair/replacement at the same time as your LVAD surgery.

A study of CardioMEMS and HeartMate 3 for advanced heart failure

This trial tests if a combination of a tiny lung-artery pressure sensor (CardioMEMS) and a mechanical heart pump (HeartMate 3) is safe and effective for people with advanced heart failure. If you qualify, you'll either get the heart pump plus standard medical therapy, or continue with standard therapy alone and have your pressure monitored remotely.
