This study is testing different ways to control an arm prosthesis for people missing a hand or lower arm (transradial amputation). It may help compare how well people can use a myoelectric (muscle-signal) prosthesis using either direct control or pattern recognition.

Who can take part

  • You have a transradial (below-elbow) amputation on one arm
  • You can speak and understand English well enough for study visits
  • You meet one of these setup choices: either you have never used a myoelectric arm prosthesis in the last 3 years, or you currently use an IBT Sense pattern-recognition system
  • Clinicians do not find major memory/learning or thinking problems during screening
  • Clinicians do not find major nerve/movement problems that would prevent using the prosthesis
  • Your residual limb (stump) and pain level must be manageable enough for full participation
