This study compares two ways of controlling a muscle-powered (myoelectric) prosthetic arm to see which is easier on your attention and works better for daily tasks. It might help you find a more comfortable and effective way to use your prosthetic arm.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older
  • You have lost one arm below the elbow (transradial amputation)
  • Your amputation happened at least 6 months ago
  • You have used a myoelectric (muscle-controlled) prosthetic arm for 3 months or longer in the past or currently
  • You wear your prosthetic arm at least 4 days each week now
  • You can read, write, and understand English
  • You are willing to use each control method for 3 months (6 months total commitment)
