5-Year imatinib after GIST surgery for high-risk patients

This study looks at taking imatinib (a targeted anti-cancer pill) for 5 years after your GIST tumor has been fully removed. It is meant to lower the chance that GIST comes back in people considered “high risk.”

Who can take part

  • You are age 20 or older and can give written informed consent
  • Your tumor is confirmed to be GIST, and tests show it has certain markers (KIT or PDGFRα, or specific protein types)
  • Your GIST was completely removed by surgery (R0 resection) within the last 12 weeks
  • You are currently on adjuvant imatinib after surgery, and your GIST is “high risk” based on specific features
  • Your general strength is good (ECOG 0 to 2) and your blood, liver, and kidney tests are adequate
  • You can’t have certain conditions (like pregnancy, major recent heart/stroke events, uncontrolled infection, or HIV). You also must not have the PDGFRα D842V mutation
