Test shorter rifapentine-based treatment for drug-sensitive TB

Who can take part

  • You’re age 18 to 60, and your weight is 40 to 80 kg
  • You have smear-positive pulmonary (lung) tuberculosis and it is sensitive to rifampicin
  • You can sign informed consent (or a parent/guardian consent with participant assent for minors)
  • If you can become pregnant and you’re not past menopause, you agree to use effective birth control during treatment
  • You do NOT have TB outside the lungs, or large/widespread disease (less than 50% involved and no cavity bigger than 4 cm)
  • You must not have known drug-resistant TB to key TB medicines, or serious blood/liver/kidney problems, and you can’t be pregnant or breast-feeding
