Who can take part
- You have Parkinson’s disease and already use DBS on both sides of your brain (STN area).
- Your current DBS leads are Medtronic, and you’ll need to replace the battery (implantable pulse generator).
- You have troublesome walking, balance, and/or speech symptoms that your doctor and you agree are disabling.
- When DBS is turned off, your walking/balance/speech symptoms improve (worse when on).
- Your DBS settings use specific Medtronic contact points (contact 1 or 2 on one side, and 9 or 10 on the other).
- After the battery replacement, the team must be able to record a “good brain signal” on at least one side.
