Personalized breathing settings for adults with severe ARDS

Who can take part

  • You are older than 18 years
  • You have ARDS diagnosed by Berlin criteria, with oxygen levels low (PaO2/FiO2 ≤ 150)
  • You are on a breathing machine with volume-controlled settings, set to 6 mL per kg of predicted body weight
  • You are receiving sedation and a muscle-paralyzing medicine
  • You have special monitoring devices in place (arterial line, central line, and an esophageal balloon)
  • A CT scan is planned soon (decided by the treating doctor)
