Who can take part

  • You are currently on a breathing machine through a tube (invasive mechanical ventilation).
  • You previously met the ARDS criteria at some point while on the breathing machine.
  • You are currently on pressure support ventilation (a ventilator mode).
  • Your care team expects you will stay on the breathing machine for more than 24 hours after enrollment.
  • You do not have certain nerve or muscle diseases that affect breathing, like ALS or Duchenne/related conditions.
