Who can take part
- Your spinal cord injury is recent and in the neck (C2–C8) or upper/mid back (T1–T12).
- Your neurologic exam on admission must be ASIA grade A, B, or C (not D or E).
- Your injury is non-penetrating (not from an object entering the body).
- You are not in a life-threatening situation from the accident, and there is no sepsis (serious body infection).
- You can be assessed for your nerves within the first 8 hours (not unconscious or unable to cooperate).
- You do not have key medical reasons that make glyburide unsafe, like sulfonylurea allergy, severe kidney or liver problems, or certain heart rhythm/heart events.
