Who can take part

  • You must be one of these groups: deaf children with cochlear implants, adults with cochlear implants, or people with normal hearing
  • If you were deaf before learning language (prelingual), you typically need cochlear implants placed before age 12
  • If you received your cochlear implant after age 12 and were prelingually deaf, you likely cannot join
  • You must be able to complete a basic thinking/memory screen (cognitive screening)
  • You must be a native (non-native speakers of American English are not eligible)
