Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes by a specialist.
  • You are considered insulin-dependent (insulin treatment continues after diagnosis).
  • If you were diagnosed after age 20, you must have needed insulin for at least 6 months after diagnosis.
  • If you had diabetes for more than 1 year, you should not have had diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) in the last month while off insulin.
  • Your C-peptide level must not be too high (it should not be above 800 pmol/L at any time point).
