Who can take part
- You must be 17 years old or younger
- You must be needing a chest tube for a spontaneous pneumothorax or lung surgery
- The chest tube must be placed by a surgeon or surgical trainee at The Children’s Hospital
- You should not need emergency surgery or a repeat operation
- You must not have had chemotherapy or radiation in the past 12 months (or before the operation)
- You should not have kidney or liver failure, neurologic problems, or an infected pleural space (empyema)
