- You’re having hip or knee replacement surgery and will be under general anesthesia
- You’re considered elderly
- Your body mass index (BMI) is greater than 30
- Your liver condition is not moderately to severely impaired
- Your kidneys condition is not moderately to severely impaired
- You can safely come off the breathing tube in the operating room right after surgery
