Who can take part
- You can sign consent and understand the study (or have a legal option if applicable).
- You have a narrowed internal carotid artery: at least 70% if symptoms started recently, or at least 80% if you have no symptoms.
- You have not had a stroke that left you permanently disabled.
- The other (opposite) carotid artery is not fully blocked, and you do not have more than 70% narrowing on that opposite side.
- You are not pregnant, and you can safely have MRI or CT scans (no scan contraindications).
