This study looks at how best to set (map) cochlear implant sound settings after surgery. It may help improve how well you hear and understand speech in everyday listening situations, especially by testing your hearing and sound perception.

Who can take part
- Be age 18 or older
- Have hearing loss in both ears or have single-sided deafness
- Already be approved by the LHSC Cochlear Implant Program for one cochlear implant
- Speak and understand English as your native language (study tests use English)
- Have no known cognitive (thinking/memory) problems and pass a brief memory/cognition screening (Mini Mental State Exam)
- Be willing to do hearing/speech tests and come back for follow-up visits as scheduled
