Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • Your doctor says you are a candidate for a cochlear implant.
  • You have (or will get) a MED-EL cochlear implant, and your other ear has at least moderately severe hearing or better.
  • If you have moderate hearing loss or worse in the non-implanted ear, you must use a hearing aid in that ear.
  • Your cochlear implant will be programmed in a specific way (electric-only, fine structure strategy) and you have at least 10 active electrodes.
  • You speak English as your primary language and can commit to all study visits.
