Test hydrogen gas for children needing emergency heart resuscitation

Who can take part

  • Be in a pediatric (newborn to 18 years) care setting, usually a cardiac ICU, at a participating hospital
  • Have a heart problem such as congenital heart disease, myocarditis, an abnormal heart rhythm, or heart transplant rejection
  • Be in a prolonged cardiac arrest (no effective heartbeat) lasting more than 5 minutes and still receiving CPR
  • Your care team must decide to use ECPR because there are no other good options left
  • Start the study treatment within 6 hours of the decision to use ECPR
