Who can take part
- You can sign consent and are age 18 to 75
- Your cancer is confirmed as rectal adenocarcinoma, and it is mid-to-low rectal cancer (not higher than 10 cm from the anus) and stage II–III without distant spread
- You have not had any anti-cancer treatment yet, including no prior chemo, radiation, surgery, targeted therapy, or immune checkpoint drugs
- Your tumor test shows MSS (microsatellite stable), not the mismatch-repair “MSI” type
- Your health is strong enough for treatment (ECOG 0–1) and you don’t have organ/bone-marrow problems that block chemotherapy
- You can’t be currently pregnant or breastfeeding, and you (or your partner if you’re male) must use effective contraception during treatment and for 6 months after
