Who can take part
- You are age 18 or older and have melanoma that is stage IV (advanced) confirmed by pathology/biopsy.
- You have at least one brain metastasis seen on brain MRI that is measurable (at least 10 mm) and clearly getting worse.
- You are not planned to receive stereotactic (focused) brain radiation, and you are not already planned for other cancer treatments or brain radiation during the study.
- You must have been off cancer treatment for at least 4 weeks before starting (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted drugs, or radiation).
- Your blood counts and organ tests must be high enough (neutrophils and platelets and hemoglobin) and liver/kidney function must be within allowed limits, including adequate albumin (a protein).
- If you have brain swelling and need steroids, your steroid dose must be stable (and typically not higher than 4 mg per day unless the study doctor approves).
