Study how social rewards work in early schizophrenia

This study looks at how your brain learns from positive social experiences in people who are in the early stages of schizophrenia-type illness. It may help researchers understand “social anhedonia” (feeling less pleasure or reward from social situations) and guide future treatments.

Who can take part

  • Be between 18 and 35 years old
  • Have a first episode of a psychotic illness that started within the last 3 years
  • Have a diagnosis of schizophrenia, schizophreniform, or schizoaffective disorder
  • Be taking a second-generation (newer) antipsychotic medicine
  • Be able to do brain scanning (no pacemaker/unsafe metal) and be willing to scan
