Who can take part

  • You are an inpatient, age 18 to 65
  • You have severe unipolar depression (not bipolar depression) diagnosed by their criteria
  • Your depression score (HAMD-17) is high enough (23 or more)
  • You can understand the study and sign the consent form
  • You are on stable antidepressant and antipsychotic medicines for at least 10 days before starting the study
