  • You have major depressive disorder or bipolar disorder with a current depressive episode.
  • Your doctor has recommended electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) for your depression.
  • You are willing to give written consent and participate.
  • You do not have severe dementia, a recent stroke or heart attack, or an untreated infection.
