  • You are age 55 to 80
  • You have type 2 diabetes and are being treated for it
  • You have not had a prior major heart event such as a heart attack or angina
  • You have at least one extra heart-risk feature (like smoking, high inflammation, or abnormal cholesterol or artery-related findings)
  • If you can become pregnant, you must have a negative pregnancy test and use reliable birth control during the study
  • You can understand and sign informed consent
