Who can take part
- Your stroke was your first one, and it happened more than 12 months ago
- You have mild to moderate weakness in your arm/hand (measured in the Fugl-Meyer test)
- You can produce voluntary muscle electrical signals for specific hand muscles during a test (sEMG for finger flexor and extensor muscles)
- Your hand muscle stiffness is low (measured using the Modified Ashworth Scale; score below 3)
- Your thinking/memory are good enough to follow assessments and training (Mini-Mental State Exam score above 21)
- You do not have a history of epilepsy and you have no known reason you should not receive brain stimulation
