This early-stage study tests whether a noninvasive brain stimulation treatment (called iTBS) can reduce impulsivity and suicidal thoughts in Veterans who have had a mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) and recent suicidal thinking. If you qualify, you may be offered a monitored treatment plan and assessments for safety and symptom changes.

Who can take part
- You are age 22 to 65.
- You can read and speak English.
- You have mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) based on a specific checklist using your symptoms.
- In the past month, you have had suicidal thoughts rated above 1 (on a questionnaire) and you also have a history of impulsivity (from records or a high impulsivity score).
- You should NOT have epilepsy or other reasons iTBS is unsafe, and you must be able to have an MRI.
- You are not pregnant, and you do not have active substance use disorder, psychosis not caused by something external, or major unstable medical problems.
- You must not have had moderate to severe TBI or another non-traumatic brain injury like stroke; and you should not be within 12 weeks after major surgery, or within 1 year of the TBI event.
