Who can take part
- You have been diagnosed with major depressive disorder or bipolar II
- Your doctor has said you need ECT using right unilateral electrode placement
- You do not have neurological or brain disease conditions such as traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, or Alzheimer’s
- You do not have other major psychiatric illnesses like schizophrenia or bipolar I disorder
- You do not currently have a drug or alcohol use disorder (nicotine is allowed)
- You are able to safely have an MRI scan (no MRI contraindications)
