Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You had a cardiac arrest outside the hospital that was likely caused by a heart problem
  • Your heartbeat returned and stayed steady for at least 20 minutes without needing chest compressions or a heart pump
  • You are still unconscious after your heartbeat returned (cannot follow simple commands)
  • You are not pregnant, do not have active bleeding in the brain, a recent stroke, or certain other medical conditions
