Who can take part

  • Be between 18 and 60 years old
  • Have AML that is either “refractory” (doesn’t respond) or “relapsed” (comes back) based on the trial’s timing and test rules
  • Most people must have clear evidence of active bone marrow disease on a bone marrow scan (high activity or low production)
  • Be able to do study tasks and clinic visits: physical status score (ECOG) must be 0–2
  • Not have certain major conditions, like bleeding in the brain, pregnancy, serious heart rhythm problems, or an ECG QT interval over 500ms
