This trial studies whether using a pressure-based test called fractional flow reserve (FFR) helps doctors choose the right kidney artery stent for people with narrowing of kidney arteries and high blood pressure. It may help improve blood pressure control while avoiding unnecessary procedures.

Who can take part

  • Your blood pressure stays high even though you take at least two types of blood pressure medicines (top number ≥140 and/or bottom number ≥90)
  • You have kidney artery narrowing seen on kidney artery angiography (a special X-ray test using contrast dye)
  • The angiography shows at least one main kidney artery narrowing between 50% and 90%, with the artery diameter between 4.0 and 8.0 mm
  • Your current blood pressure is not extremely high (top <200 and bottom <120) at the study day/randomization
  • You can follow the study plan and sign the consent form
  • You do not have certain conditions that would block participation (for example: specific non-atherosclerotic causes, recent heart attack/stroke/surgery, pregnancy, or contrast/aspirin/clopidogrel allergy)
